My school practices Kagan structures. We are supposed to do a number of teambuilding and classbuilding activites. I had a thought for a way to include technology with these practices. Actually, it is a combination with some ideas I got from an NeaToday. My students are going to create their own trading cards using
Big Huge Lab's Flickr Toys. All you need is a picture and you too can create a card. The students will do a personal fact or fiction. They will be asked to include two facts about themselves and one false statement. In regular practice we would then go around the room and see if we could figure out which statement is false for each student. However, I am going to have my students create time capsules. The capsules will be made in the first few days of school and will include several items. This fact or fiction card will be one of those things. We will open the time capsules up in the last week of school and then see if we can pick out the falsity. This will provide students to get to know one another (especially any new students) and maybe even a chance to turn a false statement into truth. Maybe they'll get straight As or go to Disney World, who knows. Here's my example...

There are actually quite a few things at the Big Huge Labs site. I plan to try and incorporate more. We'll see if I'm up to it.
